OUR MISSION

Established in 2001, Schuyler Hall is an educational center dedicated to the cultural, spiritual, and professional development of high school, college, and young professional men. Our activities challenge each person to see his studies, work, and family responsibilities as opportunities for personal growth and social impact.

The Christian orientation of the activities of Schuyler Hall is entrusted to Opus Dei, a prelature of the Catholic Church.

OPUS DEI

Opus Dei is a Catholic organization that helps people achieve happiness by keeping God at the center of their daily lives.

Opus Dei enables people to discover a new Christian meaning in their everyday life: family, friendships, work, and school. The Work, as Opus Dei is commonly known, offers spiritual assistance for those who want it, in order to help them find God in the midst of the world

The spirituality of Opus Dei stresses the conviction that all people, including lay people, are called to holiness and to help bring others closer to God. It is based upon the Christian teaching of “divine filiation,” that God is our loving Father.

OPUS DEI IN THE US

Opus Dei began its work in the United States in 1949, with the arrival of Fr. Joseph Muzquiz, one of the first three priests ordained for Opus Dei. Father Muzquiz died in Boston in 1983, and his cause of canonization formally opened in that city in 2011, with the approval of Cardinal Sean O’Malley.

The national offices for Opus Dei are located at Murray Hill Place, 139 E 34 Street, New York, New York. The head of Opus Dei in the United States is Fr. Javier del Castillo.
