Real friendships in the city

Our mission

Established in 2001, Schuyler Hall is an educational center dedicated to the cultural, spiritual, and professional development of high school, college, and young professional men. Our activities challenge each person to see his studies, work, and family responsibilities as opportunities for personal growth and social impact.

The Christian orientation of Schuyler Hall is entrusted to Opus Dei, a prelature of the Catholic Church.

Activities at Schuyler Hall

  • Character Development

All activities at Schuyler Hall include formation in the virtues of character. These activities are tailored to young men who seek to grow personally, profesionally, and spiritually.

To this end, the get-togethers, weekly classes, and speakers are complemented by deeper monthly recollections and annual retreats. Retreats and recollections provide time for reflection and prayer.

Schuyler Hall also provides regular courses each month in the virtues of character and Christian life, as well as in the foundational teachings of the Catholic Church. In addition, many people also make use of individual guidance provided by one of the priests, who are available upon request.

  • Speaker Series

We seek to invite speakers of cultural interest who are passionate about the work they do to strengthen society. We have monthly speakers on topics such as business leadership and character, political philosophy and ethics, courtship and marriage, economics and morality, current affairs, and more.

  • Volunteering

Many people who come to Schuyler Hall take part in our opportunities for service and Christian charity. Among other activities, volunteers at Schuyler Hall distribute sandwiches to the homeless of New York, serve as volunteer tutors in the South Bronx at the Crotona Program, visit those confined to nursing facilities, and teach catechism in impoverished parishes.
